Dammtor Barth
The Dammtor is the only preserved of the original four city gates. It was built in the middle of the 14th century, is 35 m high and has a 4 m wide passage.
The town of Barth could once be reached through four gates, of which only the Dammtor is still visible from afar as a landmark. It was built in the middle of the 14th century, is 35 meters high and has a 4 meter wide passage. The Dammtor was built as a double gate and stands on the former protective embankment in front of the Bodden. Between the main and front gates, which were connected by walls, there were two ditches and a rampart. Both gates were secured by inner and outer wooden gates. The Dammtor is one of the most important monuments of Barth. In 2008 it was extensively renovated and since then shines in new splendor.
